EB 3023                        Web Site Design

An advanced Web site development and maintenance course for students interested running their own commercial site.  Topics for study consist of developing Java applets, linking with interactive databases, designing in security measures, and marketing the Web site.  Prerequisite:  permission of instructor

 

EB 342x                        Topics in Electronic Business

A selected topic in electronic business is subjected to intense study from a practical and theoretical viewpoint.  Examples include venture capital, Internet business management, and consultants.  Topics are chosen based on the interests of the students and the instructor.  Course may be offered for one to three credit hours.  Prerequisites:  Junior standing and permission of instructor.

 

EB 3943                        Financial Management and Policies

An advanced study of the organization’s problems in obtaining and managing funds.  It examines the financial planning for a firm’s growth and expansion emphasizing the utilization of discretionary funding from external sources. Cash and working capital management are discussed along with problems caused by missing payments to creditors and providing returns to shareholders.  Problems and case analyses study short-term and long-term financing issues.  Prerequisite:  BU 3043

 

EB 3953                        Privacy and Legalities in a Virtual World

An advanced review of the issues facing any enterprise that gathers consumer/client data and maintains databases in electronic form.  As the world becomes more “connected” and organizations strive to “personalize” their product or service, privacy and security issues become more pronounced.  Firms must walk that fine line between the customer who prizes customization and the customer who holds privacy primary. Problems and case analyses will explore legal and voluntary compliance methods for efficiency and effectiveness in maintaining security and privacy.  Prerequisite: BU 3053 

 

EB 4043                        Corporate Reporting and Disclosure Issues

This advanced course studies reporting financial information to suppliers, venture capitalists, bankers, underwriters, bondholders, and shareholders.  Students will learn to analyze balance sheet presentations regarding liquidity and solvency; income statement disclosures relating to profitability, and cash flows information reflecting management efficiency and effectiveness. This course is not available for credit as an accounting elective.  Prerequisite:  BU 3043

 

EB 431x                        Workshop in Electronic Business        

This workshop will concentrate on a special topic or industries, such as the healthcare industry, government contracts, and telecommuting.  The workshop normally involves lecture, films, guest speakers, etc.  No more than six hours of workshop may be counted toward a degree.  Prerequisites:  Senior standing and permission of instructor

 

EB 491x                        Internship

Credit may vary from one to four hours.  Prerequisite:  Senior standing and permission of division chair
